New Law Impacting Families with Children Who Have Disabilities

A new bill, introduced by Asm. Brian Maienschein, is on the verge of making a significant positive impact for families with children who have disabilities. The new law allows the Court to direct child support payments to go into a Special Needs Trust, ensuring these funds do not affect SSI benefits. The bill has unanimous support and is awaiting Governor Newsom’s signature. Let’s hope it becomes law soon!
